Behind the plate

For the halle aux grains, Michel and Sébastien Bras commissioned the designer Elise Fouin and the manufactory Jars to create the ceramic pieces for their dinner service. Inspired by a natural approach, she wanted to link the nourishing earth, the source of plants and grains, to the earth used to fashion these essential objects. Elise has a deep connection with the rural world, and was inspired by her childhood spent watching her father plough the fields. She continues this connection through a dish from her collection and the Semoir plates, evoking the seed drill's cogwheel. Stoneware, the material of choice, reveals a subtle relief evocative of the earth, enhanced by the expertise of our craftsmen.
